NetLean for Dynamics NAV
Over the past few decades tens of thousands of manufacturing companies have implemented Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems. At the same time, many of these same manufacturers have adopted the principles and practices of Lean Manufacturing. This has fueled a debate about the compatibility of Lean Manufacturing and ERP.
Even a Lean Manufacturing company needs an ERP System to run their business. So the question is not whether ERP and Lean are compatible, the question is whether Lean is compatible with the MRPII functionality at the core of ERP Systems. The answer to that question is clearly no.
Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) is based on the traditional practices of Batch and Queue production. It was first formulated in the 1960’s, a time of long lead times and large lot quantities.
Lean Manufacturing is based on the Toyota Production System (TPS). TPS focuses on process improvement techniques to perfect the flow of production and material in the factory and throughout the supply chain. Toyota determined that traditional batch and queue production was an outdated model.
Lean Manufacturing initiatives are constantly fighting the ERP System because it simply will not support the way Lean flows production and material. NetLean for NAV is being built to make ERP and Lean compatible. NetLean allows Lean manufacturers to turn off MRPII functionality and replace it with Lean functionality based on the Lean principles of Value Stream mapping, Flow production and Pull material replenishment.
